I’m currently on Synthroid and want to take Thryoid energy pills. I want to know if it is okay to take them at the same time. Here is a link to the Thryoid Energy Pills

Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure your doctor would suggest taking that at all, but it should be okay to take it with your Synthroid. Calcium, iron, and soy supplements should not be taken until 4 hours after your Synthroid.

Different brands of levothyroxine may not work the same. If you get a prescription refill and your new pills look different, talk with your pharmacist or doctor

Thyroid meds are serious shit! Don’t trust yahoo answers for that. Talk to your doctor (or at least a pharmacist) before adding any medication or supplement. Don’t even change the brand w/out your Dr approving it. The main ingredient in these energy pills is iodine. Over the counter meds with iodine are contraindicated with synthroid. Your even supposed to avoid high iodine food. PLEASE DON’T TAKE THESE PILLS w/out at least asking your dr.
btw, I’m a nurse so i’m not just bullshitting. I actually know something

It is going to depend pretty much on what is causing your gland to be unable to produce sufficient hormone on it’s own.

The product that you want to take contains three components that can act as thyroid gland stimulants.. the iodine (kelp), tyrosine and the zinc, it also contains selenium will aids in thyroid hormone conversion.

You first need to know your actual diagnosis, your reason for being hypothyroid and needing the hormone replacement (Synthroid is a synthetic form of the thyroid storage hormone, T4).

If what you are dealing with is Hashi’s (Hashimoto’s thyroidits, an immune disorder and the most common of the thyroid disorders) then the LAST thing you want to do is take a gland stimulator to escalate antibody activity and increase damage to your thyroid gland.

If you have had all, or part of your thyroid gland removed, the stimulates will still affect remaining tissue.. but if the cause for the removal of the gland is aggravated by the stimulants, again, not a good thing.

If you are dealing with thyroid cancer, any remaining living tissue left after surgery and/or RAI is going to be stimulated and will increase the risk of the cancer re-establishing and growing.

If the reason you are trying to increase energy levels is cuz you are fatigued and frustrated at having just started thyroid hormone replacement…. it does take time to work your levels up and increase your dosage of replacement hormone..

In the long run you will be much better off by being consistent with taking your doses properly and going in for your labs every six weeks to get your adjustments.

As your thyroid hormone levels come up you will feel better, symptoms will be reduced and/or go away…

The key is consistency in dosing, using the proper replacement hormones for your body’s needs, and getting the proper dose.

Understanding with you are dealing with will help you to make better decisions.
