Ok, which acne product actually GET RIDS of acne!? Ive tried proactive and wasn’t satisfied. I want something you can buy at your local supermarket, and not expensive! I mostly have white heads on my forehead and upper nose, but i also get problem zits sometimes as well! HELP! thank you :)
No pills please! Also im 14 years old
ALSO my skin is oily, probably because im 14~ usually only oily where i get acne (forehead + nose + sometimes around my mouth) thank you guys :)

Ugh, I hate Proactive.

I use Neutrogena’s Acne Stress Control. It is green with little beads that help scrub away acne. It works REALLY well with a little facial buff (you can buy them for like a dollar per 12 so def worth it) Then if you still need help you can use Neutrogena’s Daily Cleanser/Mask which comes in a white bottle. Use it as a mask, but only if you have tough skin. Slowly start using it for longer and longer until it gets to where it doens’t burn anymore. (yes, it is supposed to a little.) Then you can also use Clean & Clear’s astringent which works well if your skin starts getting oily during the day and you don’t feel like washing it.

This process sounds long, but only takes about 5 minutes with a few extra with the mask. I have perfectly smooth skin (and I didn’t used to) so it has to work! :)

Many people have differing views about acne. It is made worse when certain experts could not agree within themselves. However, it is better to know the facts about acne before trying any therapy or believing in untested ideas. Here are some known facts regarding acne before you seek any treatment.

Food – No food has been related to acne. However, if you feel that a type of food makes your acne worse, please stop that food after consulting your doctor. No conclusive evidence has yet pointed out to acne and its relation to food yet.

Frequent washing – Frequent washing of the acne-affected area will not treat acne. On the contrary, it may adversely affect your skin. Washing twice a day should be more than enough. Contrary to the popular belief of many people, acne is not caused by dirt. It is the sebaceous gland that gets closed and forms the acne on your skin.

Oral Vitamin A – Derivatives of vitamin A, called retinoids are used topically and orally to treat acne under medical supervision. If somebody takes excessive Vitamin A hoping that it will treat acne, which may make the health worse as Vitamin A in large quantity can have adverse effects on the body.

Medications – Some medications can bring on acne like cortisone, certain anti-tuberculosis drugs and some anti epileptic drugs. Chlorinated solvents can also cause work-related acne.

Hereditary – If your parents had acne, it is likely that you inherit acne.

Hormonal changes – Hormonal changes bring on acne. The hormone, Androgen, is accountable for excess production of sebum. It is well known that women suffer from acne outbreaks during menstruation or pregnancy.

Acne like conditions – Some other conditions such as folliculitis may appear like acne. There are many other diseases that may mistaken for acne. They are Rosacea, Keratosis Pilaris or Perioral Dermatitis. Do not initiate self treatment, it is always better to get diagnosed by a doctor.

When selecting an acne treatment, you could use some of these guidelines. First, select an acne treatment that is based on clinical research. Then choose an acne treatment that you can well afford. No use trying an expensive treatment which you will give up half way.

Ask about the usage requirements regarding your selected acne treatment before you start it. You may decide that it is not for you or you probably cannot follow the directions. Chose an acne treatment that it will work best for you. And finally, be patient. It takes time for acne to heal.

Acne is a major problem for those who have it. Not only are there major physical changes, but psychological changes as well. Formerly confident teens may find their self-confidence shaken by the way they look now.

1. Social Problems

Normal everyday social situations often become awkward and difficult for a teen suffering from acne to face. They will often try to avoid these social situations as much as possible. The teen may feel self-conscious and cut off from the group. There is a stigma associated with acne, and amongst teens especially, it is often considered to be a sign that a person is “dirty” or doesn’t take care of themselves. All of this can make even going to class a painful experience for a teen. It erodes the teen’s self-confidence, and sometimes these feeling will follow the teen into adulthood and cause dpression and social maladjustment.

2. A Lack of Understanding

Many people who are not suffering from acne just don’t seem to understand what the teen may be going through. They may think that the teen is just overreacting, and that it’s “not that bad”. But in recent years, the social and psychological side effect have been studied more closely. They found that acne is as much about how you think you look and how you feel emotionally, as it is the actual physical appearance. A teens self-image and self-confidence can be fragile things while they are growing up, and having acne can cause the teen to have to deal with all sorts of unwelcome pressures and prejudices.

Modern society places a lot of emphasis in appearances, and anything outside the norm brings pressure to bear on the person breaking the “norm”. When asked how they felt during these studies, teens with acne often said that they felt “ugly” and “depressed”. These feeling can persist into adulthood, and are not gender specific. Both males and females felt similarly about their acne and how it made them feel.

3. Understanding What’s Happening

Understanding what pressures and feelings having acne can place upon your teen is very important, especially during the earlier teenage years. You must understand that acne is a big deal, and can leave lasting scars emotionally as well as physically. If you notice a change in your teen’s behaviors, such as suddenly losing interest in social occasions, drop in grades, moodiness, etc., ask them what is bothering them. If it turns out that it is acne, don’t just shrug it off. Take them to see a dermatologist, especially in the more severe cases. Make sure they understand that nothing they did is the cause of their acne, and that it will get better if they take care of it properly. Then make sure that they do take care of it properly.
