I had vodka and 2 beers last night watching Spain vs. Portugal. Great footy, bad morning. Anyone please could you tell me remedy for hangover? I’m in the office, can’t work properly. My tummy is in turmoil and still feeling dizzy! ![]()
Aww geez mate ((((huggs)))) for you …….. first up you do so need to go HOME ….. tell them you ate chinese food or pizza last night and it’s made you feel abysmal ….. you don’t need to tell them it was the alcohol you mixed with it…… so it’s not precisely lying….. but get yourself home.
get in a steamy hot shower and feel the therapeutic pounding hot spray on your achy body for 10 minutes ………. then go make yourself a hot drink………. squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a mug with a spoonfull of organic raw honey ……. fill with hot water first then put an inch of cold water in the top and sip through a straw to protect your teeth ……….. take some B vitamins if you’ve got any or eat some bacon and eggs …… chock full of B vitamins …… which is what the alcohol destroys ….. and go back to bed and sleep and recharge ……… drink loads of water also to rehydrate ……. nasty having hangovers i know but the lemon and honey will recharge you a bit cos the honey (raw organic) is rich in the B vitamins also ……..;0)

I am just wondering if I could have an alcohol problem. Mostly because I did something really stupid last weekend. I ended up drinking with some guy that I had just met on a sky train. I had a lot of fun but I got into trouble with my mom and grandparents because I smelled like a liquor store. When I got home I had to bottles of water to prevent getting dehydrated and having a hangover the next morning. The most annoying thing is that the next morning I was REALLY craving some more alcohol but I couldn’t get any so I was mad. Grrr. I also wanted to know because there’s a big history of alcohol problems in my family with my dad, uncle, grandma and grandpa and I heard of some cousins and other people as well. And I know that it’s a very serious problem and I took some questionnaires about alcoholism and it said
"Your drinking habits are severe, and considered alcohol dependent and show signs of alcoholism. It would be wise for you to seek immediate attention at a treatment center and learn about treatment options; for the sake of you and the ones you love" But I thought that maybe a persona might be more accurate than a computer.
I’m 15. btw I started drinking since I was 12 or grade 7.
I agree 110% with Clare- there are soooo many reasons why you should stop drinking. Some other bad effects of alcohol include:
•If you get caught, you can get arrested and face very serious consequences.
•When you start driving, if you are driving drunk, you are putting yourself and other innocent people on the road at a much greater risk for an accident.
•It will be very hard for you to do well at school and at any sports.
•You are more likely to commit crimes and do stupid things that you will regret later.
•Increased risk of cardiovascular disease, malabsorption, chronic pancreatitis, alcoholic liver disease, and cancer (Wikipedia).
•It is harder to get a good, well-paying job and keep it.
•Permanent damage to basically all vital organs
•If you ever want to have children, you will have to adopt unless you want your child to have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, a disease that gives a baby physical and mental problems
These are just a few of the negative effects of alcohol. You should talk to an adult right now. A parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or any other responsible adult you trust would be good. The adult may seem upset at first, but they will be glad you told them instead of keeping it to yourself. I am a teenager too, I know you would probably rather ignore it than tell your parents, but your life could get screwed up if you are addicted to alcohol or any other drug, so just get help before it gets really bad! Please do something now or your problems will just get worse and worse!
Long story short, my cat got into some toxins by accident. The treatment was ethanol. Yes, the stuff found in alcoholic beverages. She is also on meds for a UTI.
I believe my cat is hungover. I wouldn’t know; I don’t drink alcohol. She is really sleepy, keeping her eyes closed, isn’t eating or drinking much. The smell of strong canned food made her vomit. I called the vet and they said that this is normal but I don’t want her to get dehydrated. Her last dosage of ethanol was yesterday afternoon (May 1st, around 6pm). How long is it going to stay and how long are hangovers for cats, if anybody knows?
Sorry for the million questions but does anyone know how to get a cat to drink water as well?
Well, first question, have you discussed your worry about dehydration with your vet? If not, why not?
If your vet feels it will be ok, you probably should trust that information.
If it makes you feel better to get her to drink more, try using tuna water drained from the can either as is or mixed with plain water. Many cats will drink this when food irks them. You can freeze the liquid in ice trays and offer her a tuna-cicle too, which most cats love. As an alternative, you can get some cat milk (non lactose kind) at a pet store and offer that, provided the milk won’t interfere with any of the meds she is on. Plain chicken boiled till tender may be a mild smelling and more acceptable substitute for canned food for a day or two, to help her eat.
Best wishes to you and your cat,

I have suffered for years, but have refused treatments. I don’t know if I really refused any treatment, I just tried to control it myself. My childhood was horrible and I was abused and then I was in a nearly fatal auto accident that broke my spine. I just recently started seeing a therapist and she told me that she would HAVE to put me on medication to control my panic episodes and my loss of sleep. I have been on Risperdal, Zoloft, and Zyprexa in the past and nothing worked. My panic attacks are so bad that I’ve even called 911 thinking I was having a heart attack or stroke… and I’m too young for that (hopefully)…
If those medications don’t work, what do they give you? Is there anything that can actually help calm you down and make you feel like you are NOT dying? I have tried herbal remedies, hot baths, exercise, drowning myself in lavender oils, etc… and she says that self medicating is not really good for me…
I’m just worried she’s going to give me something I will be hooked on forever. The only thing that helps me sleep sometimes is drinking wine, and I get HORRIBLE hangovers and it just makes me feel worse and keep having more panic attacks…
Sorry this is so long.
I also suffer from PTSD, anxiety/panic attacks, ADHD, mild OCD, depression, and have flashbacks on occasion (never knew thats what was happening until I explained the feelings I had and how I was affected after it happened & she told me I was having a flashback, even if I did not think about the incident that was the cause, it is still a flashback). I now realize that the cause of all of these problems go back to April 2003 when I was with a guy friend (he was designated driver & thought he was trustworthy) and he put what I now know was GHB (a date rape drug) in my drinks and when he took me into my apartment I was put on the sofa and was fully aware of everything that was going on but unable to speak or move, which is an awful feeling so I just kept thinking to myself "you know what is going to happen and you can’t prevent it so you are going to have to let it happen" which again is an awful thing to have to think, especially since before we went out he had asked me to have sex with him and I was sober and said NO! Sorry I did not intend to tell my life story but in order to understand I felt I needed to explain a little of why I suffer with these disorders.
Well now on to the medications: I have been on Prozac, Wellbutrin (made me feel like I was dying of heart attack), Zoloft, and none worked so I brought up to my therapist the fact I had researched some meds and was interested in trying Lexapro, but my insurance doesn’t cover it so I was given Celexa 40mg (cheaper version of lexapro) and have had WONDERFUL results, I really have not had a bad day since I started it and little things don’t bother me like they had before. I also was given Klonopin for the anxiety/panic/flashbacks but had terrible side effects, couldn’t eat and lost almost 15lbs ( was down to 90lbs I now am 105 & still trying to gain it , unable to wake up and overslept for work ALOT, I also was either yelling at you or crying uncontrolable because you looked at me, I now have stopped taking it and seem to be ok haven’t had any symptoms of disorders since stopped medication. I now am in the process of medication for ADHD/OCD and have tried Concerta (made it worse), Vyvanse (way to speedy), Ritalin (doesn’t last long so have to take more), and will be trying Adderall as soon as I see the Dr on 5/6.
I also want to include so info I came across: If you suffer from PTSD you are alot more likely to have medication side effects, and some of them may not be listed side effects, as with the Klonopin my therapist told me she has NEVER seen anyone have those reactions, most people just nod out and/or pass out. So I would ask your doctor to let you try several before you settle on one so that you know you have a right fit for your disorders or do a little research before you ask for medication so you know what is available. Also having a GOOD therapist is a main key to getting beyond this and take back control of your life! Hope some or all of this was helpful and good luck with your medication and treatment, I also want to apologize for rambling on.
I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I don’t know where else to go to find out. I have been drinking on and off since I was 17, and I stopped for around two years between the ages of 19 and 21… However, once I did turn 21 late last year and alcohol became readily available to me, my drinking started back up with a vengeance. I know most "normal" people probably don’t question whether or not they are alcoholic and all, but I’m unsure whether I should seek treatment by going to AA or something… I started drinking around .5 liter of vodka per week when I turned 21 (not a huge amount), but in the last three weeks I’ve been drinking on average 1.75 liters of vodka every two days and have spent literally hundreds of dollars at the liquor store… I feel completely out of control sometimes, but I never drink in the morning and haven’t experienced any severe hangovers or other physical symptoms so I am reluctant to believe I have a problem sometimes… But right now I feel pretty desperate and would really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience/can relate to this in some way. -Sim
Thanks so much for the input everyone, especially to "common sense in exile." This was actually a bit of a wake up call for me, I had absolutely no idea I was drinking the equivalent of 25 beers per day… I guess spirits make it seem like less (or maybe I just trick myself). I do think I have a problem now, it’s just really hard to cut through the denial… But as far as getting help out there in the "real world," I really hope I can do it without all the shame I feel some nights. Thanks all of you, your responses mean the world to me. -Sim
do not drink at least for two days…
